On the sidelines of the international economic forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum", a meeting was held between the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakyev, on the one hand, and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, as well as the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, on the other.
During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin noted that despite the high level of Turkmen-Russian relations, the legal framework of which is regularly updated with new documents, and cooperation in trade, economic, transport and logistics spheres is developing at a good pace, there is still untapped potential that can be used for the progressive promotion of bilateral relations.
– Therefore, we are not only continuing our activities for the further development of the North-South transnational transport corridor, but are also working on the practical implementation of new infrastructure projects, as well as on the expansion of the commodity nomenclature of mutual trade.
In turn, the General director of the Transport and communication agency under the Turkmen government Mammetkhan Chakiyev stressed that Turkmenistan carries out fruitful cooperation with Russia in a wide range of areas, including with Tatarstan.
– Our republic has a rich experience of partnership with Turkmenistan, – Rustam Minnikhanov supported the conversation of the RAIS of Tatarstan. – Tatarstan companies have been successfully operating in the country for many years in the field of shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, as well as through KER-Holding.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also shared ideas on further expansion of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue, since the volume of trade turnover over the past year does not correspond to the existing potential.
Currently, large Tatarstan companies operating only in the field of mechanical engineering and oil refining are represented in Turkmenistan, more than 20 investment projects worth about $ 3.5 billion are being implemented, in connection with which the urgency of increasing investment cooperation was noted. The sides also discussed issues of strengthening ties between the business circles of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan and the implementation of promising projects in the trade and economic sphere.
At the end of the meeting, the sides exchanged good wishes, expressing firm confidence in the successful continuation of the primordial traditions of friendship, good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two fraternal peoples.
