Head of the IRU Resident Mission in Eurasia
Vadim Zakharenko has over 20 years of experience in international road transport. He was educated in Belarus and Russia, and additionally studied international relations and diplomacy, economics and trade facilitation in Austria, Germany, India and Singapore. Since December 2020, he has been the Head of the Permanent Mission of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in Eurasia and is responsible for interaction with the countries of the region on the development of international road transport, facilitation of border crossing procedures and the removal of trade barriers, and increasing the professional competence of personnel employed in the transport industry. The IRU is the global road transport organization that represents the interests of 3.5 million transport companies in passenger and freight transport worldwide. The IRU was founded in 1948 in Geneva and has members from over 80 countries. Under the authority given by the UN, the IRU enforces the Customs Convention on the International Carriage of Goods under the TIR Carnet (TIR Convention). Vadim Zakharenko is also Deputy Chairman of the Customs and Transport Committee of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) in the Russian Federation.
